Lately, Kai has been letting us know when he is in the bathtub or during naked time when he is about to urinate. This afternoon, Kai was standing in the play room and let us know that he was about to go. So, I asked him if he wanted to use they potty and we ran to the bathroom and took off his diaper. He did not go the whole way there! Then I put him on the big potty and told him it was okay to go. THEN HE DID!!!! There were some technical difficulties with using the big potty, mostly due to my lack of experience in the penis department. (Pee got on me as well as in the potty.) Most of his pee went into the potty though! We said yay a whole lot and I told him what a great thing it was to go pee in the potty, then we flushed and washed hands (all very, very exciting). It was a very exciting couple of minutes for us! Hurray to Kai! Now, I guess it is time to get a little potty for future peeing experiences. I am going to have to do some consulting about what type of potty to get. We have looked at them in the past, but there are a whole lot of choices. I am not sure what is best. If anyone has any potties for boys suggestions, please let me know!

I don't think it matters what kind of potty you have. Any of them that you get you will still have to teach them to hold it down. I was not a fan of the pee guards at the front of the seat. It just made it difficult to get on the potty in a hurry and it was gross.
Whatever. What's so special about that? I make it to the toilet almost all of the time. Most of the time I don't even have to tell Katherine that I have to go. However, I do still enjoy the words of encouragement when I am successful. Yea Steve! *applause*
Go Kai!
I have heard the Baby Bjorn potties were best for boys... I am going to buy one this weekend!
It's probably too late for me to weigh in, since I know how excited I was to buy a potty after Finn's first pee-ing attempt (of course, I bought the WRONG potty-so now we have two!--but, just in case, I'd recommend the Safetly First 3-in-1 Comfy potty, because it is the only one that doesn't threaten to permanently disfigure your son's anatomy when he sits to pee, and it's quick to get onto, and it blocks messes very effectively. Finn has been very happy with his, although he only uses it to stand on to pee in the big potty, now. Also, the seat is removable, so you can snap it onto your big potty for future adventures in POOPING (a whole other fantastic experience!...) Here's a link to the potty at target:
