This morning, we were at our regular Monday morning playgroup when Kai came to me and informed me that he had a boogie. It was not a boogie. It was an unpopped popcorn kernel. In his right nostril. It was lodged in such a way that I could not get it out. Thank goodness there was a pediatric nurse on hand to give Kai the you're not moving an inch hold. Thank goodness that Kai was so disturbed by the popcorn in the nose that he did not squirm while I pulled out the kernel. With tweezers. Thank goodness that although Kai does not yet have the sense not to put popcorn kernels in his nose, he did think it was a good idea to alert me to the situation.

Sick sick sick.
Thursday we had an entirely normal day. Other than a skipped nap which was totally my fault because I let him fall asleep in the car. Whoops! I put Kai to bed in time to sit down to watch Grey's Anatomy and fold some laundry. About 15 minutes in to Grey's Kai started crying. I went up to check on him. Most times if he wakes up so soon after he goes down he just needs to be reminded that it is nighttime and time to lay down and he will fall back to sleep almost immediately. Well, when I got there this time, the top half of bed was covered in toddler vomit. After a long night spent mostly in our rocking recliner watching Fraggles, vomiting, nursing and snoozing, there was an entire next day of more vomit and still another half day. Just when we thought we were in the clear with Kai, I woke up vomiting to be followed shortly after by Jake waking up sick. Ugh. I luckily am back to normal this afternoon. Kai is healthy and his normal self aside from taking marathon naps. Jake is still feeling pretty lousy though. Hopefully he feels better quickly and we can all forget about all of the vomit.

Get to work baby.
Kai loves to help with the dishes. I have learned that this is a chore best done in a diaper only. With lots of towels handy. Kai has also taught me that no matter when the last time the potato ricer was used, it is dirty. It needs to be washed. Now. I feel that it is a good thing that he is developing his personal neurosis at a young age. This will help him to feel like he truly fits in our neurotic household, with a mommy who cannot stop making lists and a daddy who is constantly repositioning the living room rug.
