Today we went to the local children's museum and Kai had a fantastic time playing there. He especially enjoyed "driving" the firetruck. The enjoyment of things that have steering wheels may have been heightened at the farm on Wednesday when Jake let Kai drive the car down the driveway Britney Spears style.

Afternoon at the Farm
Jake's grandparents live on a farm about 15 minutes from our house. We went there after nap time to spend some time with them and then have dinner with his grandparents, aunt and uncle. Kai had numerous wagon rides around the farm and a few rides down the barn hill with Jake. Jake's grandmas cooked an amazing dinner for us and sent us home with molasses cookies. Yum. Being able to spend time with family without the underlying rush that followed us everywhere when we were visitors is fantastic. Kai seems to enjoy the company of his great grandparents and is especially appreciative of the retro toys that Grandma Judy pulls out for him. He just started stacking blocks and was very interested in the Duplo blocks that were out for him today.
Memorial Day Weekend at the Lake
We spent the holiday at our family cabin in Northern Wisconsin. Kai was there last summer but was too little to be running around and getting wheel barrow rides. We had a great time and are looking forward to spending another long weekend there in June with my sister and her kids and tons of other friends and family.
Being there and knowing that I will be there again soon made for a relaxed trip. Kai was super impressed that there were multiple riding lawnmowers in the garage to sit on and "drive."
The weather was amazing and Kai found the lake to be irresistible. He stuck his feet and hands in at every opportunity. The next time we are there it should be warm enough for swimming. We will see if Kai's swimming classes had any impact on his lake readiness.

Hello from Lovely Wisconsin!
After much encouragement from a fantastic Pennsylvania friend, I decided to take the blogging plunge. So, no longer is there a need to fret my far flung friends. I will keep everyone up to date with Kai's doings! (And mine!)
We are pretty well settled in at my mom's. Kai has a room to hold his toys and books. I had no idea that he had so much stuff until it was all in one spot. It has been a bit of an adjustment for us not to have lots of friends, a busy schedule and a perfect park in walking distance. We have to work a little harder to keep ourselves entertained. We have been looking for houses and Kai and I joined a couple of moms' groups. There is a great family cafe in the area that we have spent some time in and we attended a great toddler geared story time at the public library. So far, so good.
